The incident happened on Starbarn Road at approximately 12.20am on Sunday.

A 41-year-old man suffered stab injuries and was taken to Southmead hospital for treatment. His injuries are not deemed to be life threatening or life changing.

Two boys, aged 16 and 17, have been arrested and have since been released on bail.

DI Dominic Graham said: “A team of detectives have been working on this investigation over the weekend.

“We know this incident may cause concern in the local community but I’d like to assure people we believe it to be an isolated one.

“We’re carrying out a full inquiry to establish what happened and as part of that we’ve arrested and questioned two boys.

“We’re now also appealing for the public’s help and would like to speak to anyone who was in the Starbarn Road area of Winterbourne around the time of the assault.
