Barn reopens with children's activities
Various dates in August and September
WINTERBOURNE Medieval Barn is reopening its in August, with family activities being staged each Wednesday.
The activities will be organised in line with social distancing rules, with families given designated arrival time slots and guided through their activities.
Advanced online booking is essential for the activities as anyone who arrives without a reservation cannot be admitted to the site.
The first activity on August 5 is a pirate adventure day, with treasure maps, ship and hat making and walking the plank.
On August 12 a wild adventure session will include otter spotting, making bird feeders and leaf printing.
A time travel adventure from the days of medieval knights to the Victorians will be held on August 19, and the series ends with a circus adventure day on August 26, including juggling, making a ringmaster's bow tie and finding out how to tame a lion.
Families can make a reservation for one of the sessions via the barn's Facebook page or website, winterbournebarn.org.uk, where more details on coronavirus precautions are available.
In September some of the first guided tours of the newly-renovated barn will be taking place on September 12 and 13 for the Heritage Open Days event.
Tickets are free via the Barn website but numbers will be limited to enable social distancing, and there will also be online activities and stories to accompany the event.
