Frampton Cotterell cricketers head for the nets

WINTER may still have some weeks to run but Frampton Cotterell’s cricketers are already preparing for the summer ahead.

Indoor pre-season training for Frampton Cotterell Cricket Club’s junior and senior teams has begun at Yate International Academy. The club is inviting new players of all ages and abilities to the net sessions, as they look to recruit new players.

Senior training runs from 1pm – 2pm every Sunday until the end of March, with junior training for ages 9 upwards between 2pm and 3pm.

The club runs three adult Saturday league teams during the summer, spanning divisions 3 – 15 of the Bristol & District League.

Club spokesman Phil Cordy said: “Regular midweek friendly 20-over evening games and Tuesday evening training mean there are opportunities for seasoned veterans through to true beginners.

There is no obligation for people to play every week so, even if you can only spare the odd Saturday or midweek evening during the summer, the club will welcome you with open arms.

The social aspect of the club is just as important, too, and with our own bar running throughout the summer, The Park makes a great place to spend a Saturday afternoon or a sunny evening.”
