Lucky ducklings saved from pond after rescue effort

Six ducklings have been saved from Winterbourne Pond by volunteers after their mother was killed.
The rescue took several volunteers a couple of days to catch all the ducklings and take them to a rescue centre.
Ken Thomas, a wildlife volunteer helped with the rescue, wading into the pond to catch five of the six surviving duckings as David McFarlane helped from a coracle boat.
Tom Baxter brought his kayak to the rescue effort the next day, along with Maddie Gould who bought a dinghy to help out the rescue.
The last ducking took some time to locate and rescue, but by the evening, and with a small crowd now on the banks it was caught in one of several nets employed in the chase.
Ken told Frome Valley Voice: “It was hilarious to see a queue of people, children and adults alike, gathering around to photograph the little hero duckling I had collected the night before. It gave me probably the greatest pleasure of any of the rescues I've ever done to see that little chap join his siblings in the incubator.”
