Man injured in Winterbourne car workshop fire
A MAN was injured as a fire broke out at a car repair workshop near Winterbourne.
Crews from seven fire stations, including Yate, were called to the fire at a business off Trench Lane shortly after 1.20pm yesterday.
The injured man, who was in his 30s, was treated for minor burns as firefighters fought the blaze, which sent up a large column of smoke that could be seen from several miles away.
An Avon Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said firefighters were told of a risk of the fire affecting acetylene cylinders and remained at the garage, above, for several hours afterwards to damp down.
The fire, which is believed to have started accidentally, caused the closure of the road and is reported to have affected an event at the Leyland Court Equestrian Centre next door.
