Woman is arrested over vandal attack on grave of Winterbourne Down man

POLICE have arrested a woman over a vandal attack on the grave of a popular Winterbourne Down man.

White paint was poured over Liam Scarman's headstone at Westerleigh Crematorium and a note with a mocking message was left in November last year.

The Voice reported Liam's parents' appeal for anyone with information about the damage to come forward.

Police say that a woman in her 20s, from Bristol, was arrested this morning on suspicion of harassment, malicious communications and criminal damage.

She is currently in police custody.

Liam, who was 22 when he died three years ago, went to Winterbourne Academy, and had worked for insurance firm LV at Aztec West.

Speaking to the Voice after the incident, his dad Trevor described Liam, who had type one diabetes and is likely to have died after missing some insulin injections, as the "life and soul of the party". Around 450 people attended his funeral.
